  • Amazing!

We stayed at the Oceanis at the start of September 2017. I couldn’t recommend this place any more. To start, the rooms are lovely and clean and have a spacious balcony with amazing views. The facilities including the pool and the restaurant are wonderful. The food was great and the staff are lovely! Our return transfer to the airport let us down last minute, the chef offered to drive us to the airport for free!! Such an amazing place that I would highly recommend!

  • The Facts about The Oceanis

I have been to the Oceanis Rooms so many times that I have lost count, only one person has been there more than me and that is my wife, so I feel I am in a position to give a good insight as to what you can expect there.
The rooms are clean and all have an ocean view. The views are stunning. The food is excellent. The hospitality is the best you could wish for. The pool area is a total sun trap with a good amount of sun beds.

The rooms are good Greek holiday accommodation. There are 3 different types of rooms ranging from studios to 2 bedroom apartments all with good size balconies overlooking the sea. All rooms have excellent air conditioning units which are free to use. The studio rooms are large with a good amount of wardrobe space. The kitchen area has a 3 ring hob with oven, a fridge, sink and cupboard for dishes. The bathroom is a wet room, which means the floor gets wet as it is meant to. I have seen some reviews criticising this, but this is normal for Greece. The other rooms have separate bedrooms with a good size living dining area. Some rooms have a bathroom with a bath and a shower. All rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard. Bed linen and towels are changed on a regular basis.

The views are outstanding both day and night, especially if you are lucky enough to be there when there is a full moon. The only drawback about the location is that The Oceanis is situated between Barbati and Nissaki on a winding road. If you want a quiet relaxing time this is not a problem but if you want to go elsewhere then a car is a necessity. There is a good bus service with a bus stop close to the rooms.

The pool area and restaurant are situated down stairs from the rooms on top of the cliff. The pool is cleaned daily. There are sun beds with umbrellas and also some tables and chairs with umbrellas in case you have had enough sun. There is always at least one member of staff there to look after you.

The restaurants chef, Dimitri, serves the best Greek food I have ever tasted. Everything from a salad to his Kalimari or Pastistada are all made with fresh ingredients.

The real success of the Oceanis is without a doubt, Nikos, his sister Illianna, Dimitri and the rest of the staff. NicosÂ’ main aim is to do everything he can to make sure you have a great holiday. If you want to hire a car Nikos will arrange it for you at a reduced price. The car company he uses is more expensive than some companies but they give you real full insurance whereas other companies will tell you they do, but if you have an accident you will soon find out that your excess may be as high as 1000 Euros. If you want to hire a boat for a day, he will arrange this, again at a reduced price. If you want to take a trip ask Nikos the best people to go to.

If you want a relaxing holiday, or a base for sightseeing, in good accommodation with stunning views, great food and a great host then I highly recommend The Oceanis Rooms.

  • Sincere & passionate service makes Oceanis the best hotel we ever stayed at!

With over 20 years in the hotel business and currently working at the only 7 Star hotel in the world (Burj Al Arab – Dubai) I thought I knew everything about hospitality, but our stay at Oceanis has reminded me of the most basic things that make a hotel unique and special which is sincere and passionate service!
My wife and I came from our fairytale wedding in Denmark and after one week in Paxos, and had quite high expectations from Oceanis based on all those amazing Trip Advisor comments we had read.
The rooms were perfect – clean, great size and nicely furnished.
Shortly after we arrived we sat at the restaurant next to the big pool overlooking the fantastic scenery of Corfu, then we met Vanya and David who served us the most incredible dinner created by Dimitri. WOW! We also got greeted & welcomed by Nikos, the owner of the hotel, an amazing welcome by amazing people with amazing food.
Throughout our stay we forgot about the rest of Corfu and became lifetime friends with Nikos, Vanya & David, not only because they were so incredibly good at their job but as they are truly amazing people.
We spend most of our time at the hotel as there was no reason to venture out, we felt like we were at home with our best friends and closest family.
A particular thing we liked was the attention to detail by the housekeepers who cleaned our room as soon as we went for breakfast and were finished by the time we returned. That is one of the little things one expects from an international 5-star hotel, not from a small independent hotel in Corfu, so nice, and when we did see the housekeepers in the hallway they were so nice and friendly even though they were busy.
With our half-board we had breakfast and dinner included, wow wow wow…looking at the menu you get confused from all the choices available, then having the food created by Dimitri – who is our gastronomy hero – was just beyond words, whatever we tried was so incredible, simple food becoming delightful creations of art in your mouth, no words can describe how much we loved his food.
We became lifetime friends with Nikos, Vanya and David…they all three deserve a special mention as they made us feel better than we ever felt in a hotel, and we have been to quite a few around the world and have also worked in quite a few around the world.
David welcomed us when we arrived and showed us to our room, throughout our stay we came to know David very well, he is great at his job and very ambitious. ItÂ’s quite admirable that being from Georgia and in the short time he lived in Greece David has already learnt Greek, besides knowing Georgian (his native), Russian, English and German. Very impressive!
Vanya had just arrived at Oceanis right before us, but she already had it under control. She was great fun and very entertaining, especially when she improvised in drinks making. She has a very loving nature, and it was very hard to leave her when the time came to return home.
We consider them both our friends and will for sure stay in touch with both of them and hope to see them here in Dubai or somewhere else.
We were also very impressed by Nikos, the hotel owner, who welcomed us when we came for our first dinner and made sure we were happy throughout our stay. We had some great conversations with him during our time there, very impressed by the hotel and reputation he has built up. We hope he gets to expand or build more hotels as his leadership style reflects in the staff and great atmosphere.
We had some great times with Vanya, David & Nikos, that have left us with new friends, more than anyone could expect from a hotel stay.
We simply loved Oceanis and will be most happy to recommend it to our friends and colleagues. We would love to come back to Oceanis and hope to get a chance to see our new friends anywhere else we can get an opportunity to meet up.
The Oceanis and its people made our honeymoon more special than we could have ever wished for.

  • My 2nd Home

I have spent 38 days at the Oceanis this year and every day was a day in Paradise. I have been here about 20 times and every time I have been made so welcome by Nikos, Illianna, Dimitri and all the staff I have met over the last 7 years. My husband insisted insisted on spending his 50th birthday at the Oceanis as he said it was the only place he wanted to celebrate a special event. Nikos always makes you so welcome and will do everything in his power to ensure you have a great holiday. I strongly reccommend The Oceanis to all travellers.

  • The Best of Corfu

I spent 12 days on Corfu at Oceanis at the end of May 2010 and I can’t belive how lucky I was to find this great hotel!! A view you can’t get enough of, the best little beach with crystal clear blue water just a step away from the hotel, great hospitality, good greek food, and the best location – at the foot of mount Pantokratoras, on the north-east coast, from where you can see Corfu-City across the golf, Greece and Albania. I would go back anytime!

  • Longing to be back

In many ways I regard Corfu as my spiritual home, and the oceanis plays a significant role in all that. At times like today when I’m sat in my offices in Manchester, i have to switch off for a few minutes and check out the oceanis web site and 3D tour. The pictures represent the oceanis exactly how it it, in all its magnificence. The Colours of the Ionian, the greens the emeralds, the turquoise, the blue’s and the beatiful olive groves skirting the slopes of Pantokrator. The peace and serenity seem a million miles away from the fast moving, in your face mentality of a Northern England Morning.
I have these images in my mind from my 3rd visit to the oceanis. Of Dancing on the Bar until the small hours and nearly breaking my hand on the ceiling fan, of reading my books by the banana tree near the corner of the pool, of swimming in the crystal clear waters below, and of watching Niko’s uncle pedal his boat in the pursuit of fresh Octopus.
And was that Octopus in Mustard or Vinegar something else. Quite superb
My fellow guests have probably forgiven my stupid dancing by now. Its is not a pretty sight seeing a slightly over weight chap from Widnes dancing on a bar.But I enjoyed it immensley and once again I was able to find the real me.

You should go here if you want to find yourself, and be entertained by Nikos serving drinks into the small hours. I cant wait to go again.

  • Pampered

We arrived at The Oceanis in early June 2008, we had both had a stressful year one way or another, right from the start Nickos and everybody at Oceanis spoilt us, nothing was too much trouble, unfortunately we had only booked one week but at the end of our stay we felt totally rejuvenated, and have decided to go back every year for a major de-stressing session.

Well Done and Thank you Nickos and Ileana.

So, in short: great views, excellent food, great staff!
We recommend ths place for any of you who read this revew regardless of your age (by the way, we are both 27 years old)

  • heaven on earth

Heaven on earth – we found it at Oceanis. Nikos and Ileanos made us so welcome we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The apartments and pool area was lovely and so clean. The views were to die for and no matter where we travelled along the coastline the best view of all was from the Oceanis.

Thank you Nikos for all your kindness. Nothing at all is to much trouble for him or his staff.

Our memories of the week are very special. We will be back – how can you not return to paradise.

  • Amazing

We happened to come across the tripadvisor review of this hotel while heading to Greece from Italy. Not being a fan of the phone, I was able to book the entire reservation on the internet which was so convenient.

Our plan was to stay three nights and once we got there decided to stay a total of five. There is a small beach right near the hotel and the pool is amazing.

The best part of the hotel is the unbelievable treatment. We felt like family and would definitely go back or welcome Nikos into our home.

  • It’s happened twice and it will happen again

    and again, again, again.
    And this is the fourth!
How can we define Nikos and Ileana? Family? Friends? Better than that! You can’t choose your family, anyway you love it, you love your friends because you’ve chosen them. Nikos and Ileana are your friends and your family.
    Asking for more?

  • Paradise in Corfu-Oceanis Barbati

We booked to go to Corfu in September 2004. It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking for somewhere peaceful and not part of the rat race. Well we found it!!!. Oceanis Rooms in Barbati Corfu.

The view was just spectacular and the peace and tranquility was just what we were looking for. We were a group of four (two couples) looking for a peaceful holiday and that is exactly what we got. Hence we have been back each year since. (four times and a fifth visit is on the cards).

Each apartment has a balcony overlooking the sea with stunning views. We each had a double room, which was comfortable, 2 beds, kitchen and bathroom, cleaned on a regular basis. There are apartments for larger groups and families available. The pool is well maintained with free use of the loungers and parasols.

The owners Nikos and Illeana make everybody who visits their place feel welcome from day 1 and will do everything they can to please and make the holiday special for their guests. They certainly did that for us.

As this is a taverna they have an excellent menu with plenty of choice and they also cook local fish and greek cuisine. We have always had excellent meals, always hot, well presented and of good value. The local wine tastes good too! Well done Dimitri (Our Chef).

This year we were celebrating a 50th birthday, and another couple came to join us they too fell in love with Oceanis and could see why we keep returning. Nikos and Ileana did everything to make this a special day. (which they did) They arranged the evening and ordered a wonderful birthday cake. They went to Corfu Town to buy the cake nothing was too much trouble. ( a big thank you from Angela)

A wonderful young couple called Peter and Katrina who were helping out for the summer were so pleasant and helpful. Hope they are back next year when we visit.

If you do not want to cook you can also have breakfast taking in the early morning views watching the fishermen. Breakfast consists of coffee/tea, juice, bread and jam and something warm i.e. omelets, egg & bacon or ham & cheese toasts. Enough to keep you going until mid afternoon and then you can enjoy a greek salad and some local wine or more if you want it. Oh what memories!!

The walk to the main part of Barbati is about 15 minutes. This is a small resort and consists of a few restaurants and a couple of bars, there is also a few tavernas down on the beach, but the walk up takes some stamina (not recommended if you have participated in sampling the local brew of ouzo and metaxa).

Barbati beach does not get overcrowded. However, we have only visited in June and September so we cannot comment on the high season months of July and August. You can hire a small boat from the beach and go out for the day stopping at a couple of local beaches and have lunch. Nice way to see the coast line.

For a tranquil relaxing and friendly holiday you can’t do better than Oceanis Rooms.

Thank you all for your hospitality and kindness.
See you all again next year!

  • My Greek home

All my life I have travelled to Greece but now have found my home.

Oceanis has the best view of the Island and the skies are the biggest with the most shooting stars ever to be seen in my life!

Nikos and Iliana are part of our lives as well as their friends and other guests.

I am at home at Oceanis as we all are xxxx

  • Wait for us

What can we say? Nothing else but we’re going there for the third time. Our youngest decided it: “Where are we going for holidays next summer?” “To Ileana’s pool!”. That’s it.
Niko, Ileana, Dimitri, Dretan: wait for us, we are coming!

  • SIMPLY THE BEST

I found the oceanis rooms on the internet 3 years ago when I was going on holiday with my sister-in-law in Sept04. These rooms are set in a beautiful scenic part of Corfu. The rooms have all the amenities required for self catering and are kept clean with fresh linen on a regular basis, there is also a beautiful pool with free sun loungers. The food is outstanding, always fresh, hot and to a high standard. This would be enough for me to recommend the oceanis to anybody, but what made it so special for us are the owners.

When I came home from my weeks holiday I raved so much about the place to my husband he decided he would go in May05. He enjoyed it so much he insisted going back Sept06 for his 50th birthday. Niko, Illianna and Demitri laid on a surprise birthday party for him, with the best cooked lamb we have ever tasted, birthday cake, candles and all the trimmings.(Niko learnt Scottish dancing that night). We have been back in May07 and are going again Sept07. Every time we return Niko and Illianna weem as happy to see us as we are to see them. We have spent many a good night laughing, talking and drinking with them into the wee hours of the morning. (NIKO AND ILLIANNA ARE THE BEST.)

  • So good we’ll go back

You want every holiday to be memorable for all the right reasons. In June ’06 we weren’t disappointed after choosing the Oceanis Apartments for a two week self catering holiday. The location overooking the blue waters of Corfu Bay and the majestic mountains of Corfu, Albania & Greece, all from your balcony was an excellent start. We had hired the smallest of the apartments but they were by no means small. You entered the living area first which consisted of a large sofa that converted to a double bed, a TV on a wall bracket and a table & chairs (none of which were used by us). At the end of the living area was a fridge, very small cooker ( who wants to cook on holiday?), sink & cupboards. The bathroom was just off the kitchen area, the usual wash basin, toilet & shower. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom too. Hot water was always available when showering, something we haven’t alwas experienced when abroad. The bedroom was excellent, lovely high ceilings a large airy room with plenty of wardrobe & drawer space for the two of us. The best thing about the room was pulling back the the curtains & having the sun shine though the patio doors first thing in the mornings. We always had orange juice or breakfast sitting at the table on our balcony. The rooms have airconditioning & a safety deposit box all included in the price so no nasty extra charges.

We used the pool everyday, the water was always warm. It usually takes me an age to get into a pool but here it was straight in. It was a nice sized pool with plenty of sunbeds. At times it seemed as though we had a private pool as we were the only ones there. No rushing down first thing in the morning to put towels down to reserve a sunbed. For those with very young children there was no baby pool. There was an outside shower & an indoor one too close to the pool area. It’s all as you see in the photos on the Oceanis web site but better. It took us less tham a minute to get to the tiny shingle beach below our apartmets, you will be shown the shortcut. There is a bigger beach at Gylfa & a large pebble beach in the main area of Barbati. The sea was so clear and still. We loved walking down to it & I’d float about on the lilo whilst my husband went snorkling. We aren’t ones for lying on the beach so we would head back up to the pool, shower then swim or read a book under the free parasols provided.

Some of the tables in the restaurant area are now under a bamboo cover. It was excellent (even romantic) sitting down to eat there when the sun went down & the lights all along the bays were glimmering. We enjoyed sitting under the parasols drinking frappes in the mornings and carafs of wine late in the afternoons. Food was available from early moring until late at night. The food was first class. We ate at the Oceanis 7 out of 14 days. The fish dishes were our favorites, and we thoroughly enjoyed the starters and salads. Everything was freshly prepare and served hot. We hadn’t planned to eat there as much as we’ve been to Barbati before & knew some nice restaurants, but the food was so good and very reasonably priced why both walking elsewhere. Infact the only times we did eat out was when we drove to other small tavernas along the coast i.e Agni, Kalami, Agios Stephanos and a must is Corfu Town.

The sucsess of the Oceanis Apartments lie with the owners Nikos & his sister Iliana who are the nicest, friendliest, warm and welcoming hosts. Nothing was too much troble for them. We feel we have made good friends in them. Doritas who worked there was also very friendly always smiling, & ‘Chef’ was a good laugh too, when things got hot in the kitchen in the aftrnoons he’d sometimes drive in the pool.

The apartmets are approx 10 mins walk from the main resort of Barbati which is only a small resort.

    Dawn
